Do you ever check your tongue when you wake up in the morning? Do you ever see a white coating, bumps, marks, cracks, or any other abnormalities? Well according to Ayurveda, a healthy tongue is one that is pink with no white coating, bumps, marks, cracks, or any other abnormalities, which may be quite rare. However, if you see any of these issues you may have some imbalances in the three doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha, and toxins within certain related organs in the body.
In the front of the tongue indicates there may be problems in the lungs, heart, chest & neck. Towards the middle indicates the spleen, stomach, pancreas & liver. And towards the back of the tongue indicates the intestines, colon & kidneys. I know first hand because I had two red patches in the back of my tongue and when I went to my medical doctor, sure enough, I was told that something may be going on with my kidneys. In addition, my tongue had a blue dot where the lung was indicated and that made sense because that’s when I had difficulty breathing so I just added some more cardio to my exercise regimen and the blue dot eventually disappeared.
You too can also do this simple tongue analysis every morning when you wake up. So know what’s going on inside your body. Self-checking, self-love, self-healing…
